Campus Kid by MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects was inaugurated last month in San Lazzaro di Savena (Bologna). The campus is able to host scholastic, sporting and cultural activities, such as the theater and the auditorium. The particular project, in close contact with nature, ensures conditions of well-being and comfort for students by minimizing consumption and maximizing
passive strategies. It is a building designed according to the principles of green building, which uses a series of techniques and technologies to minimize the building's energy needs and cover the remaining part with energy produced from renewable sources. The installation of
large Ponzi windows and curtain walls creates a comfortable environment in close contact with nature, where children can study and grow while relaxing. The distribution of the Ponzi glass openings conceives a succession of environments that are designed as flexible and adapted, both in the classrooms and in the common spaces. The careful use of
Ponzi windows and doors creates flexible spaces within the building that integrate the environments for regular teaching with those serving the community. The complex becomes an instrument of the entire society, where architecture plays an important role for those who use the building
